Horse Owners are more aware of equine gut health than ever and Gut Gold is the ideal product that contains pre and probiotics for optimum gut and digestive health.
Gut Gold is a nutritional supplement that contains pre and probiotics. The formulation contains the live yeast Saccharomyces Cerevisiae CNCM I-1077 and includes a balanced combination of Mannan oligosaccharide (MOS) and Beta-glucans to help achieve gut health.
Ingredients
The particular ingredient of Saccharomyces Cerevisiae CNCM I-1077 used in Gut Gold is particularly unique to its DNA profile and digestive microflora benefits. The product supports internal health and vitality, with an external support seen through improved top line and overall body condition in the horse. The probiotic used is a more potent product than other products (significant for dosage rates).
Benefits of Gut Gold Probiotic:
Benefit – Achievement
- Improves feed utilisation – Supports a healthy balance of microflora and boost the level of friendly anaerobic bacteria present
- Stabilises hindgut, reducing risk of acidosis – Supplementation significantly increases the number of lactate utilising bacteria and reduces total lactate in the hindgut, lowering the risk of digestive disorders
- Improves growth and development for foals – Supports growth through increasing the fermentation of fibre and the absorption of key minerals calcium and phosphorus needed to build strong healthy bone; vital for growth and development in foals
Within Gut Gold, the prebiotic used is a combination of MOS and ß-glucans, extracted from Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It is a pure, high-quality product and a guaranteed source of Mannan (minimum 24%) and ß-Glucans (minimum 23%), which is one of the highest levels of MOS on the market. It is a very efficient product in the digestive tract owing to the spray and fluid drying of the yeast cell walls within the particles
Benefits of Gut Gold Prebiotic:
Benefit – Achievement
- Blocks attachment and development of pathogens – Prevents the adhesion of pathogenic bacteria to the intestinal mucosa, favouring their elimination
- Favours growth of beneficial intestinal microflora – Binds pathogens and limits their adhesion to the gastro-intestinal tract, subsequently this allows the development of a beneficial microflora able to use mannans as an energy source
- Maintains intestinal microflora balance – The specific composition helps the modern horses to deal with increased risk of gastrointestinal disorders
Quality
Quality is the main focus for all of the above ingredients used in Gut Gold. The lower dose rate is a sign of the quality and potency of Saccharomyces Cerevisiae CNCM I-1077. The prebiotics in Gut Gold is also a quality ingredient with quality certificates of MOS and beta-glucan content with every batch. The Saccharomyces Cerevisiae CNCM I-1077 used has a specific patented microencapsulation technique using fatty acids provides protection from environmental aspects. It has shelf-life assurance when the bucket is constantly being opened and closed. This is an important consideration for users to reinforce the quality aspect of Gut Gold. The focus of quality of quantity is a very large part of the Gut Gold and is one of its most unique features.
Academic Studies
There have been many studies done to demonstrate the input of Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-1077 (SC I-1077) yeast supplementation on the equine digestive system. Here are 3 highlighting the importance of live yeast for various aspects of horse health:
Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-1077 on horse digestion
This study was to examine the effects of SC I-1077 on horse digestion. The trial was conducted on horses in a riding school in France using a specifically developed diagnostic method through faecal samples. The results of this trial were presented in December 2011 at the French Equine Veterinary Congress in Lyon (Le Treut & Sacy, 2011). This study indicates that live yeast SC I-1077 appears to have had a positive impact on the caeco-colonic environment of the horse. Moreover, it demonstrated how easy it is to evaluate the equine diet digestibility impact of SC I-1077 through visible changes in faeces.
Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-1077 on stabilising the gut microflora in stressful conditions
A study was conducted on geldings subject to transportation in order to evaluate the effect of SC I-1077on the microbial communities and fermentation parameters in faeces of horses under transportation stress. Again, the trial was conducted in France and was published in 2013 in the Journal of Animal Science. This study confirmed the detrimental effect of a stress such as transportation on the horse digestive microflora. It indicated that a supplementation with SC I-1077 contributed to reduce the negative impact of transport stress on faecal microbial balance. The live yeast also exerted a favourable effect on the equine microflora diversity, both in non-stressful and stressful conditions.
Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-1077 on enhancing foal growth
A trial was performed at the Royal Agricultural College, in Cirencester (UK), in 2004, to evaluate the effect of SC I-1077 supplementation on foal growth. Foals are susceptible to digestive disorders while their growth involves high dietary requirements. Inadequate protein in the diet or inefficient absorption of nutrients, due to digestive disturbance, are known to inhibit normal growth and development of foal. The live yeast supplementation supported growth and improved the foals weight gain by 23.4%. This can be explained by an enhanced digestibility of fibre in these young growing animals. It has been shown in ruminants that SC I-1077 facilitates the early establishment of flora and maturation of the digestive tract.
These studies all indicate the benefits of using Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-1077 on the equine digestive system. This strain of live yeast is the one in Gut Gold, demonstrating the quality of the product and the importance of a balanced gut for overall horse health and performance.
